SRM provides a new innovative and proactive vision of the Southern Italy, identifying unexpected data regarding the economic and productive reality of the "Mezzogiorno" and providing food for thought and guidelines for the restart of the country. Specifically, it outlines: on the one hand, the current socio-economic context as a starting point for a new development path; and on the other hand, seven pillars on which to base it. The pillars concern both the main sectors of our economy and cross-cutting elements capable of affecting the economy as a whole: 1) Training and Research; 2) Innovation and Digitization; 3) Environment and Bioeconomy; 4) Tourism; 5) Social Economy; 6) Maritime Economy; 7) Energy.
In this logic, the focus on the opportunity represented by the PNRR is also central to the study, in terms of the use of available resources and the impact it has on the local economy.
Finally, the work contains two in-depth focuses: the first on the supply chain, investments and growth prospects, the results of a survey on a sample of 300 southern manufacturing companies, and the second on the presence of large industries in the Southern Italy.
