Over the last ten years, thanks to the reports included in the collection of books named Un Sud che innova e produce, SRM has analysed some of the main production chains of the Mezzgiorno, taking into account not only their own specific features but also their links with the rest of the productive system which contribute to creating the highest possible value and competitiveness on the international level.

Building upon past in-depth analyses, this study focuses on the construction sector, a strategic and complex chain capable of boosting the entire economy of a country, especially in times of crisis.

The importance of this sector is glaringly obvious, not only due to its significance in economic terms but also for the challenges lying ahead. The contribution to the growth of the country given by this sector can be considered under a tri-dimensional lens, since it touches on economic, environmental and social issues. These aspects are also intertwined with the NRRP which allocates approximately half of its available resources to the construction sector.
