The BIOCIRCULARCITIES EU project (www.biocircularcities.eu) aims to unlock the circular economy potential of unexploited bio-based waste streams and boost the green and sustainable transition. This transition to a circular bioeconomy requires reconciling legislation, waste management, circularity, and the bioeconomy.
This first and introductory meeting of the Local Living Labs introduced participants to the project and discuss the current situation of the chain to study, relevant legislation and best practices. Participants exchanged on challenges encountered in the current biowaste management systems, successful stories or possible alternative on circular bioeconomy to improve the management and the valorisation for the selected biowaste chains.
Autilia Cozzolino, researcher - Businesses & Territory Service SRM - was among the speakers.
