Italian Maritime Economy. Ports, Shipping and Logistics at the centre of new Mediterranean scenarios. A 10-Year Review of Data and Reflections on competitiveness in the Sector and Italy's Role

SRM's 2023 Report is presented in a special edition that recounts the last ten years of phenomena, trends and dynamics which have characterised the maritime transport and logistics sector.

With this interpretative approach, and keeping in mind that the maritime sector represents a major asset for the country, an attempt is made here to streamline the main events that have had an impact, from those that have disrupted its balance - energy crisis, rising prices of commodities, the pandemic, war - to the evolution of shipping routes and the new challenges and opportunities calling for attention, such as digitalisation, sustainability, NRRP investments and the development of the Suez Canal.
